SciShow Kids is one of our go to YouTube channels when we want to answer a question. They have some great videos about healthy habits:

Reading Lessons
There are only two resources I like to make sure I include on each weekโs lesson plan, Prodigies Music (below) and Teach Your Child To Read in 100 Easy Lessons. This book has thousands of 5 star reviews on Amazon for a reason. Itโs an effective, no-prep way to teach reading. We are 70 or so lessons in the results have been amazing, my daughter can pretty much read anything. Still working on trying not to skip words and sounding out instead of guessing, but itโs been very effective.
The lessons are short (15-20min), easy to grasp and sequential. The entire lesson is scripted and color coded so itโs fool proof, just read the words in pink. It also is designed for kids that donโt know their alphabet or letter sounds yet, so you can start right away. My two year old was able to complete lesson 1 (excluding the sound writing) after repeating it about 10 times. We are now on lesson two. Their claim is that after completing all 100 lessons your child will be able to read at a 2nd grade level!
Math - Telling Time
What Time Is It?
Explore the concept of time with this no-prep unit. Build a solid foundation for understanding the abstract concept of time with lots of practice.
Start by explaining the different formats of time: digital, analog and written. Then practice filling in a clock, match different time formats, draw in the hour hand and more.
This unit focuses on whole hours and starts with sequential work to help reinforce the concept through repetition.
Units of Time Poster - FREEBIE
I hope you enjoy these two great resources for helping to teach how to tell time. Include the poster in your morning work binder, circle time lesson or post it up in your classroom for easy reference.
Laminate the clock mat or use a sheet protector to use with PlayDoh or dry erase markers. Great for practicing telling time on both analog and digital clocks.

Germ Coloring Pages
By: Crystal & Co.
These fun coloring pages use a sick day to teach about germs and how they spread. Learn interesting facts about germs while coloring these cute pages. To make it extra fun, cut out the pictures of germs and make your own germ hats!
Prodigies Music
DoโฆReโฆMiโฆ
We love Prodigies! Prodigies Music is simply an incredible curriculum for teaching music. Ages 2-5 is the critical time to develop a life-long sense of pitch. Their curriculum is designed to develop a sense of pitch with easy to use desk bells that donโt require any tuning. They also teach piano, recorder and ukulele. Their subscription includes everything you can think of 450+ videos, worksheets, free bell mats, sheet music all color coded so itโs super easy to learn. If you donโt have an instrument they have a bunch of rhythm focused content that doesnโt require an instrument. They even have a free bell app that I use with my toddler when my oldest is practicing.
They have a free trial and discounts for annual memberships! Great deal! You can even check out some of their videos for free on YouTube.
Science - Germs
Pepper Germs Experiment
By: Hi Mama
We enjoyed this fun low-prep science experiment that demonstrates how soap repels germs. Just add some water to a shallow dish, and grind up some pepper over it. Then add soap and water to a second dish.
Then ask the student to touch the water. Me: โDoes the pepper stick to your fingerโ
Daughter: โYes!
Me; โNow add some soap to your finger and touch the water.โ
Daughter: โOoh, cool!โ
The pepper germs scatter when the soap touches the water. We paired this activity with Do Not Lick This Book by Idan Ben Barak. It is very interactive and has detailed pictures of actual germs mixed with illustrations, we loved this.
Hand Washing Poster - FREEBIE
Ava and I hope you enjoy this Free How to Wash Your Hands poster. When the COVID-19 Pandemic was first announced my daughter was understandably concerned about germs. We even picked germs as our very first homeschool unit!
So she wanted to design a poster to help other kids know how to wash their hands properly. She co-designed this with me and picked the font, placement, colors, clip-art and text. Enjoy!
Use this poster to teach students how to properly wash their hands, then practice sequencing with the corresponding page in the Healthy Habits Printable Book.

Atlas Crate - Kenya
Jambo!
We got our Kenya Atlas Crate in this week and we were transported to Africa! We read about the indigenous Maasai tribe, the different animals that live in Kenya, tried a new pancake recipe, made a beaded bracelet, learned the game Mancala and made a pair of working binoculars.
With each Atlas Crate we receive, we always make sure to find it on our globe and read about it in our atlas. Then we start by adding the passport stamp and new pages to our growing travel adventure book. Get 50% off your 1st month.
Sensory Play
Brush My Teeth Sensory Play
Brush, brush, brush your teeth! I loved making this easy upcycled giant teeth craft. Just get some plastic water bottles, spray paint them white, add a clear coat for durability and hot glue to a piece of cardboard. I spaced out the bottom teeth first (10) and then lined up the top teeth (10) to match. For a final touch I glued some pink felt for the tongue and we had our dental health prop. This was soooo fun to play with, check out my Instagram Reel.
We used Playdoh moulds to make mini food and we stuck it in the teeth. Then we brushed and flossed all the gunk out of the teeth. I thought this would be more for my 2 year-old, but my 5 year-old was really into it. โDonโt forget to brush the tongue!โ my daughter kept reminding me.
Supplies: 20 water bottles, scissors, white spray paint (make sure it works on plastic), clear spray paint, pink felt, hot glue and gun, toothbrushes, Playdoh, white twine.
Glitter Germs Hand Washing Sensory Play
My girls could not get enough of this activity! Glitter was the perfect way to illustrate how germs are spread from one person to another.
Just rub body oil or lotion on your hands and tap a different color glitter on each personโs hands. Then go around the room shaking hands. Then compare what glitter colors you have on your hands.
Next, take turns rinsing your hands with water. Do all the germs come off? Nope, you will still see at least some glitter. Next, use soap and wash for 20 seconds to get all the glitter off your hands. You can even try having some kids wash really quickly and others wash for the full time to compare how clean their hands are.
Physical Education
Get Moving
Exercise is one of the most important healthy habits we can do. Help your students achieve mastery of the 8 basic locomotor skills and 16 non-locomotor skills included as part of most Kindergarten physical education standards. Plus, introduce them to yoga poses, body weight exercises and movements with a ball.
Just pick a card, roll a dice and everyone completes that action that number of times (i.e. gallop in a circle three times) or for that many seconds (i.e. hold the tree pose for three seconds).
Safeguard the Handwashing Soap Yoga Adventure
By: Cosmic Kids Yoga
